Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
The short version: TowerTime is fully playable offline and, by default, collects nothing: no analytics, no ads, no trackers, no account. If you choose to turn on cloud saves or multiplayer, we store only what those features need to work, and you can delete all of it at any time, in the app or by email. We never sell your data or share it for advertising, with anyone, ever.
This policy explains what information TowerTime ("we", "us"; the game is developed by Jordan Beacham) handles when you play the game (published on iOS as TowerTime Sim) and when you visit this website (towertime.app). It's written in plain language on purpose.
1. Playing offline (the default)
Out of the box, the game runs entirely on your device:
- No data collection. No account is created, nothing is sent to us, and your saves stay on your device.
- No analytics, no ads, no trackers. The game contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Full stop.
- No network requirement. The game never needs an internet connection to play.
If you never enable cloud features, that's the whole policy for the game.
2. If you enable cloud saves or multiplayer
Cloud features are opt-in. When you turn them on, our server stores:
- A guest account. One tap creates it: no signup, no email, no name required. It consists of a random account ID and a key your device generates to prove it's you. We don't collect your phone number, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers.
- Your save files. The tower data itself, plus a small summary we use to show your list of towers (tower name, in-game time, population, star rating, funds, and a checksum used to verify the file).
- A display name. One you choose; it doesn't have to be your real name and it isn't required to be unique.
- Sign in with Apple (optional). If you sign in to keep towers across devices, Apple sends us a stable identifier and, depending on the sharing choice you make in Apple's dialog, your name and/or email address. If you choose "Hide My Email", we only ever see Apple's private relay address. We use this solely to link your account; we don't send marketing to it.
- Multiplayer connections. Your friend code, who you follow and who follows you, reactions you leave on other towers, players you've blocked, and any tower snapshots you explicitly publish (including their title and thumbnail).
- Moderation and security records. Audit logs of moderation actions, save-verification results, and standard technical server logs (such as IP address and request data) used to run the service and protect it from abuse and cheating.
3. What other players can see
- Your display name and the tower snapshots you choose to publish (with their titles, stats and reaction counts), visible to your neighbors, and to everyone if a snapshot appears in the public gallery.
- Your friend code, only if you give it to someone.
- Never your email, your Apple identity, your device information, or any save you haven't published.
4. How we use information
- To sync your towers between sessions and devices, and restore them if you lose one.
- To run multiplayer: friend visits, reactions, the feed and the gallery.
- To keep the service fair and safe: verifying saves, moderating published content, and preventing abuse.
- To reply when you contact us, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell, rent, or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
5. Where your data lives
Cloud data is stored on a server we operate in the United States (hosted with Hetzner in Ashburn, Virginia). If you play from outside the US, your data is transferred there. We take reasonable technical measures to protect it wherever it's handled, including encryption in transit.
6. Retention and deletion
- Cloud saves and account data are kept while your account exists.
- You can delete your account and all of its data in the app (in the game's cloud settings), or by emailing [email protected] from any address.
- Deletion is queued immediately and completed within 30 days: account record, saves, snapshots, friend connections and reactions are erased. Minimal moderation records may be retained where required to handle abuse or legal claims.
- Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond, then deleted.
7. This website
- Nothing by default. Browsing towertime.app requires no personal information, and we set no analytics or advertising cookies.
- Email. If you write to us, we receive your address and use it only to reply about TowerTime.
- Hosting. Cloudflare delivers this website and may log standard request data (like IP address) for performance and security. Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces and may receive your IP address when your browser requests them.
8. Children
The game and this website are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to how it's used. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we'll handle it directly, without making you jump through hoops. We don't "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.
10. Changes to this policy
If the game's data practices change, we'll update this policy first, change the "last updated" date above, and flag material changes prominently.
